I'm just looking for inspiration really. I have a couple of small things for dd but am dithering over what else to get her. TIA

DD's main present from us onher 3rd birthday was a bike. Grandparents bought her a scooter. She got Happy Land toys, dolls, craft suff, books, etc.

NotAnOtter · 09/05/2006 20:22

play house for ours and he LOVES it!

tassis · 09/05/2006 20:25

a slide from us

have you got sandpit? climbing frame?

ds LOVES his bike and scooter.

Surfermum · 09/05/2006 20:26

We got her a kitchen/shop for Christmas and she hasn't played with it as much as I thought. I think that's why I'm hesitating. She had a bike for her 2nd birthday and, very fortunate for us, our neighbour keeps giving us various big toys for her, like a slide, that their son has grown out of, so there's very little she "needs". In fact with the amount of toys here she doesn't "need" anything!

God, that sounds like we really spoil her. We don't, we are very lucky to be given loads of things for her.

Our DS is 3 next week and he is getting a brio aquaplay set - I am very excited about it! I am also expecting my almost 5yr old DD to love it.

Blackduck · 09/05/2006 20:51

ds had a very expensive playhouse last year (2), so this year have to admit he had very little - stuff for his train set and a day out at the thomas the tank engine show at the severn valley railway - he loved it.....I am a cruel mummy, but I do work on the principle of geting away with spending too much (playhouses not withstanding) whilst I can Grin

blueteddy · 09/05/2006 20:54

I bought DS2 a Brio train set & a happy land airport for his 3rd birthday.

Surfermum · 09/05/2006 20:55

That's a good idea Cat. My parents are going to give her money and I'm going to spend it on days out this summer.

Brio aquaplay. That sounds wet! She'll love it in that case. I'm off to google it as I have no idea what it is!!

Just had a thought too - she wanted some goggles for swimming.

Ooh no, Blackduck. I'm with you. Her stocking for her 2nd Christmas cost me £12. That's the contents. It was mostly from charity shops. She had no idea and loved what I got her. One day it's going to be playstations and DVD players and stuff like that so I'm making the most of these cheaper years!

dd1 just had her 3rd. Her biggy pressies were a slide (from nannyandgrandad)and motorised car (DH said it was a bargain - not so sure!)

though in the last two weeks shes actually only played with her doggy dressing up outfit (nanny made it) and some play doh jewellry set from ELC - i quite liked this one too.

My youngest is 3. Bearing in mind he is the youngest of 4, most things suitable for a three year old, we have already. So from us he had a pirate dressing up costume which he loved, and another hit I remember was a mini wheelbarrow.

Alipiggie · 09/05/2006 22:11

ELC electronic piano for ds1 and he loves it, now 4 and still singing along :o. Ds2 has asked for a trampoline for his birthday in July so guess that's what I'll get him.

ladymuck · 09/05/2006 22:14

Ds2 was 3 today. I threw him a small birthday party. He hasn't noticed that I haven't bought him a present. Other people have bought him:- a football, a 3d Tesco snakes and ladder game; a little suitcase (ELC), some books, Benny from Bob the builder, Peppa Pig playsuit, crocodile swim towel and a couple more games/puzzles (as yet unopened). Huge garden trampoline will arrive from grandparents in a couple of weeks.

Ds1 didn't notice that he didn't get a birthday present from us on his birthday either. I'm just wondering whetehr this will surface as a surpressed memory in years to come...

sarahhal · 09/05/2006 22:20

Alipiggie - have you got the ELC piano which has the really irritating London Bridge as one of the tunes? DS is like a dodgy cabaret singer when he gets the mike and croons ".... my fair laydeeeeeeeeeeeeee"!!!

Surfermum, DS was 3 on Saturday and his bike from grandparents ( sorry, his motorbike as we must all call it!) and an aqua draw went down the best.

threebob · 10/05/2006 01:31

We got him a CD player and some story CDs. He gave up having a nap ages ago, so this is a good way for him to have a rest on his bed after lunch.

Blackduck · 10/05/2006 08:13

The Elc piano? Ds got it from the in-laws for Xmas - he goes at it like a heavy metal star!

Kelly1978 · 10/05/2006 08:19

dd had a bike. When it was ds's third, we already had loads of toys so they had a trip to the bear factory and then to a family pub with soft play afterwards with family.

Surfermum · 10/05/2006 08:21

She's getting a litle drum kit from PILs. (He used to be a professional drummer and I think has high hopes!). Maybe we should form a group and stick 'em into the next X factor!

I am veering towards a little trampoline, which she has been asking for (but then she asks for everything in every advert on the telly, including nappies!).

Still at least I got the cake sorted last night. She has been asking for a Tweenies cake for weeks now and is quite definite about that! I've managed to get some icing sheets off Ebay. Seems odd to me so I'm sure it'll seem odd to you. I just hope it's as easy to put on a cake as they say it is!

A new bike. It is her first real one, as opposed to the little plastice toysrus sort of ones. We got her a Raleigh Mini Miss.
