Hi unicorn, We're camping virgins and have just bought an Outwell Hartford XXL (we are a largish family), haven't trie it yet but the revues are good. Our friend has got Outwell nebraska which is huge.

Sorry, don't know about the other tents, try putting the same question on www.ukcampsite.co.uk

elliedragon · 09/05/2006 11:42

We bought a tent last year but unfortunately I cant remember which one. The advice everyone gave me though was to make sure you buy a big one as you can grow into it. I think ours can sleep six/eight and has a large living area in the middle which is really useful when it rains. The extra sleeping cubicle that we dont sleep in I use to store all our bits in. Hope this helps.

Jessajam · 09/05/2006 11:47

Agree with elliedragon - size matters!!
If there are 3 of you, you need at least a 4 berth. Well, it depends on the style of camping you want...but if you want relatively comfortable family camping, space is needed. Use extra berths for storing luggage - saves treks out to car boot etc . We prioritise being able to stand upright in a tent...not too keen on wriggling on floor putting own trousers on ( was extra fun when very pregnant!) also stops head scraping along rain soaked tent roof and causing leaks!

PandaG · 09/05/2006 11:53

Henni - could you tell me where you got your Hartford from, and how much it cost if that is not to rude Blush - is one of the tents we are considering. Thanks

HenniPenni · 09/05/2006 12:02

Hi PandaG, it's the 2005 version which is cheaper than the 2006 and has more to it than the newer one. Hold on I'll try to do a link;\link{http:www.camperite.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=135}

HenniPenni · 09/05/2006 12:03

HMMM, obviously can't do links!!

Very friendly, helpfull etc and next day delivery.

HenniPenni · 09/05/2006 12:04

Doh...it cost £299.99

unicorn · 09/05/2006 15:39

thanks all...
camping is a total minefield!!!

We just want something big enough, SIMPLE ENOUGH to put up, and dry enough.
Spending no more than 200...

try ebay for bargains....we got ours there, brand new.

buffythenappyslayer · 09/05/2006 15:59

have a look on gelert.com my dh is trade show organiser .he said they have got a great sale on at the mo and some of the very expensive tents are reduced loads!

Milliways · 09/05/2006 16:03

Look at \link{http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Family_Clearance_Tents.html\Outdoor Megastore} as they have a great range & I have linked the Tent Clearance page. We have bought from them before - good service.

For ease of putting up, Khyam can't be beaten as all poles are integral & it sort of "shakes open", but they are expensive. We have a Wynnster (satellite 12) & it is fab!

PandaG · 10/05/2006 12:29

Thanks for that HenniPenni. Smile

Buffy - don't know if I am being thick, but can't see any sale on the website? Probably I am being dim.

Thank you.

LucyCampCat · 10/05/2006 12:54

No i couldn't find it either!

The Campus Nevada on the Outdoor Megastore website is good value, Campus and Khyam are the same tents (I think Buffy?) and this would tick the boxes!

Tunnels are straightforward to put up, give you plenty of headroom anf the bedroom layout is quite versatile too!

LucyCampCat · 10/05/2006 12:56

Like the new name? Grin

MrsDoolittle · 10/05/2006 13:01
