Smart trousers for 8yo?

Dannie · 08/05/2006 15:37

I need smart beige summer trousers from my 8yo DS and I can't find any. Tried Debenhams, Boden, M&S. Next Directory have some, but they're sold out. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't really want him going to my cousin's wedding in jeans just because that's what the Gods of Fashion have decreed for this season.

Monsoon if you're feeling flush; linen etc. But I think the biggest size is 6-8, so no good if your son is big for 8. Sometimes Vertbaudet have nice stuff, but I don't have the catalogue currently so not sure.

Expensive but .... Timberland usually do nice chino-type trousers in beige.

try john lewis boys dept?

Dannie · 08/05/2006 21:28

John Lewis is a bit of an expedition from here, but might be worth it. Didn't see anything in Vertbaudet that didn't have lots of pockets and zips. This is SO annoying. Smart trousers have been available in previous years and I can't be the only person who's bought them. It's hard enough dressing the DSs for family weddings as it is and dealing with my mum's disappointment that they aren't wearing velvet trousers and ruffled shirts Grin

Gap usually do them

Dannie · 08/05/2006 21:43

The John Lewis website offers combat trousers or jeans. I appreciate they may have more stock in the shop, but it's no flippin' wonder the Next smart trousers are sold out! WHY should I waste a fortune on childcare for loony toddler and on trainfare so I can go to Posh Shop in London to buy a pair of boys' chinos? (and don't even start me on the likelihood that sandals are already sold out because we should be buying school shoes for September...)

Gap's a good idea, thanks Tiggerish. Means a trip (I live in shopping desert) but with a good chance of success.

Asda George?

jmb1964 · 08/05/2006 23:32

Have you tried La Redoute? They usually have a good range of wedding-type stuff, a la Monsoon, but cheaper. I recently had a code for 20% off everything, but can't now find it..

jmb1964 · 08/05/2006 23:37

look under Edeis 'slacks style' Grin

Dannie · 09/05/2006 10:13

Those are really nice. And out of stock Grin

Oh how annoying - sorry, didn't think to check all the sizes! How about cropped ones? There are some in vertbaudet mila blue collection...
Beginning to get obsessed now!

Dannie · 10/05/2006 01:32

Thanks! I'll have a look. May also write stroppy e-mail to Boden pointing out that smart trousers are universally sold out, suggesting there might actually be a market.

Childrens warehouse does this sort of stuff too, but I can't make their website work very well (something to do with cookies I think) \link{www.childrens-warehouse.com\here} And now I can't even make the link work.. Sad
