Looking for advice re using kindles in a book club

Some friends and I are wanting to start a wee informal book group and all have kindles. We're trying to work out if there is some way we can share books on our Kindles. One idea was to set up an Amazon account for the book group and we all pay money into it to form a kitty to buy books. We would all then register our kindles to that Amazon account and share the books. I believe we could use bookmarks to record where each individual was up to. Do you think this would work? I know my kindle can only be registered to 1 Amazon account at a time but does anyone know if it easy to swap between Amazon accounts if I wanted to go and read something on my own Amazon account for example? Can't really ask Amazon as they will want us all to buy the same book! Does anyone have any other suggestions for us?

You wouldn't need bookmarks as you can turn off the synch option can't you?

Not sure what happens if you were to keep switching Amazon accounts though.

Is it right that you can only borrow 1 book per month from Prime lending library?

It's only one book at a time, I believe, rather than only one per month.
