Had a very quick look at one before ds started to kick off...didn't look or feel like an air bed so was wondering if there was a difference

yep does exactly what it says on the tin! it's all down to preference, some people prefer airbeds, some camp beds, others beds in hotel bedrooms in 5 star luxury! Grin

Got it in one, Twig!

Thermorest Mattresses. VERY expensive, and do indeed self-inflate. I think they are mostly aimed at backpackers. They are thin and slim, so you rean't far off the ground, so if your arm goes sideways in the night, it ends up on the hard ground. Worth it if you can afford it and really can't be arsed to (get your DP to) blow up a traditional air-bed.

we have them Grin

Oh, those are much cheaper, Lucycat. But i think you'd need the biggest size, and that is for a single mat.

\link{http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Outdoor_Megastore_Air_Beds_262.html\these Coleman} air beds are supposed to be great - get a battery operated or mains electric pump though!

oh thank god someone is recommending the colemans ones, I have just bought 2 doubles in anticipation of the fantastic time we are going to have camping in the pissing rain this weekend (according to Met office), I feel a bit better now.
