I have no idea how roof boxes work

Has anyone done this? Where do I start?

First off you'll need roof bars to attach it to. There will be fitting points for bars on the roof (or they'll attach to existing longitudinal roof bars, if you have them). I don't know if it's a universal fitting though.

Thanks - we have got bars running front to back.

I had a quick look at Halfords earlier - it's an expensive business it seems!

You can rent top boxes from Halfords, and they'll fit them for you too.
Worth every penny if you buy one though IMO.

Google roof box rental, some on Ebay too about £45 for a week.
Heres one in Liverpool to give you an idea

Thank you - will look into rental. I know we'd get the use if we vought one - it is just a lot of money up front.

If you do buy one, go for a good make such as Thule. Don't buy a cheap crap Halfords own brand. Our Thule has lasted for years, and also survived a break in attempt in a Nice multi-storey.

AS above I sold our Thule one a few years ago when we bought a Discovery, now the Discos gone we have a Halfords one its not the same quality but it was only £20 from Ebay so its not too bad, I never put valuable stuff in it though
