Desparately trying to find a hat for dd in royal blue colour - any ideas?

dd's school have a royal blue colour uniform and her summer hat has to be in the same colour. Only thing is, they neither supply them or recommend where to buy them. I've tried Mthercare, Next, Woollies, Millets, sports shops etc etc and come up with nothing. They don't specify a syle so baseball cap would be fine but has to be plain - any ideas?

Where do other parents get them from?

It would be a lot easier if the school would supply them wouldnt it - seeing as they are so picky!!!!

I've asked dh to find out from the other parents but he keeps forgetting and no-one is in their summer uniform yet so not sure anyone else has had any luck yet.

Had to fork out £66 for her summer dresses (2) last week - they are just a blue/white stripe but had to be bought from a uniform supplier as they are made specifically for her school, so in a way I'm glad they don't supply the hats too.

Her winter uniform cost well over £100. Who said kindergarten was a good idea?

Like it Hausfrau - that'd get some eyebrows raised in the car-park Grin

try \link{http://www.workwearhouse.co.uk/shop/Kids_Unlined_Cotton_Cap.html\this} or \link{http://www.workwearhouse.co.uk/shop/Kids_Legionnaire_Cap.html\this} - this site is great for plain coloured clothes as they normally sell to printers, embroiderers etc

LIZS · 01/05/2006 21:10

dd has the second one in red - as supplied by school shop for £5 !

MrsBadger · 01/05/2006 21:12

buy direct! smash the system I say!
(but remember the £2.22 on the website is ex VAT and delivery, so they might not be making as much as you think...)

galaxy · 01/05/2006 21:13

That looks perfect Mrsbadger - do they sell single items then?

Shock at £66 for 2 school dresses

MrsBadger · 01/05/2006 21:19

yep - I bought a reflective jacket to cycle in and a couple of plain white longsleeves for DH for the princely sum of £20 all in. V quick delivery too.

They say they do lots of their stuff (rugby shirts, polos, sweatshirts etc) in children's sizes but I can't find a handy 'kids' section - might be worth getting in touch if you want something specific.

MrsBadger · 01/05/2006 21:27

aha - their kid's clothes are all on their sister site at \link{http://www.schoolwearhouse.co.uk/index.html\schoolwearhouse.co.uk}.

OMG-dds summer dresses were £1 each at school uniform sale!

galaxy · 01/05/2006 21:41

I assumed this was the norm for private school - over-priced uniforms but my friend's dd is at a private school and she could buy their summer dresses from M + S

dps brother got a scholarship to a private school then they couldnt afford the uniform!

MrsBadger · 01/05/2006 21:44

depends very much on the school - mine were from Harrods so be thankful you're spared that!

galaxy · 01/05/2006 21:45

Oh OK - I'll stop moaning now

In this situation I would make it. Get a nice v. cheapo summer hat, eg from Asda, take it apart, copy the pattern, buy some similar fabric in right colour - hats are easy to make (or get a sewing friend to do it if you don't sew...)

galaxy · 04/05/2006 21:30

Thanks for the tip MrsBadger - ordered them on Monday and they arrived today and dd loves them. GOt 1 baseball cap and a legionnarres hat. Total of £7.25 inlcluding delivery
