Can any-body recommend a good burglar alarm?
Also somebody mentioned a panic button in another thread - has any-body got one? And how does it work/how much and so on?
Thanks x

Are you in london. We had ours installed by a really nice man, who actually got out of bed to drive to our house and reset it one night when our workmen set it off by accident by turning off the power for too long and wearing out the battery backup.
I can get you his info if you want. I'll also check the brand name of the alarm in the morning as it is really straightforward and easy to use and the key pad is relatively attractive.

We have one but I have never set it

I had a panic button on my alarm in my house in la, but don't have one here. I never used the one in la, but if you are alone at home a lot it might be very reassuring and it isn't much extra. At a minimum I would recommend having a key pad by your bed so that you can see where and if sensors are going on in the house if you hear noises in the middle of the night. Again I had this in la, but don't have it here and I miss it. (but this time I've got a big manly dh to send down to beat up the burglers)

My panic button is having a phone by my bed, only in the worst case scenarios that wouldn't work. But if it gets that bad your in trouble anyway

WE had a panic button near our bed in the last house. It was a small little box with a red button on top. If you thought someone was in the house (amybe forget to set alarm, etc.) you just press it and the bruglar alarm went off immediaately. To reset it there was a little plastic key - very simple.

We got our alarm after being burgled - whilst out - but I liked the security of it, even if it was just pschyologically.
