£40 to re-sole my Birkenstocks!

I bought some Birkenstock shoes online from a German retailer (about £20 cheaper than in the UK) and the soles have worn down at the back. The Birkenstock website is quoting £40 to re-sole them which is about what I paid for the shoes Shock.

I've had Birkenstocks before but never needed to re-sole them. I assume I can't just go to a regular cobblers shop. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Smile

Why not try a regular cobbler? They resole alsorts of things these days - including stuff with moulded soles (just had a pair of boots with a moulded sole done ) - need a 'proper' cobbler (not one of those key cutting places Grin

How long have you had them? If you haven't had them that long I'd contact Birkenstock themselves and argue the fact that they should have lasted longer.... I've done this before with shoes bought in Marks and Spencers and Clarks and the shoes were replaced free of charge.Smile

Thanks for the replies. I'll try a proper cobbler and see what they can do. I've only had them a few months but the thought of dealing with the German retailer rather puts me off arguing with them. Or maybe it can just be an excuse for buying more shoes Smile
