CAMCORDER/VIDEO RECORDER - THE BEST ONE???

Hi folks, I really want to get a handheld recorder so I can film my dds but I know nothing - and I do mean nothing! - about them. Does anyone have any suggestions, something reasonably light and simple to operate, not worried if it is on the pricey side.
