Material Dye

I recently brought some cream chair covers but have decided i would prefer the to navy blue.

Has anyone sucessfully dyed material?

if they have what did u use and was it expensive(if it's to expensive then i might as well just buy new covers)

I dyed cream lining of my curtains navy blue, to use as blackout lining. Worked really well. I used a washing machine dye though, not a hand dye. It costs about a fiver a packet from Woolworths I think.

I used Dylon from Woollies, to dye a suit. I rang them up and asked for their advice and they were really helpful

I dyed my cream sofa and chair covers a dark green. The only bit that was a bit tricky is that there was too much to do in one load, so I found myself trying to match shades. It's pretty impossible. And the other problem is that with such a dark color, I found that it rubbed off on light colored clothes for several months afterwards. And faded each time I washed them. Other than those problems, I was very happy with the results and it is enormously cheaper than buying new ones.
