Current Regs for Carrycots???

What are the current regulations/advice for using carrycots for overnight sleeping?? I've got an 8 year old Silver Cross pram with a carrycot I'm intending on using for my soon-to-be newborn. I used it with DS 2 years ago with a new mattress from Mothercare and have bought a new mattress this time around too.
Some new carrycots talk about a "ventilated" mattress and that matresses should be 10cm thick???? Moses basket ones aren't like this are they?? I was happy to use what I've got until I started reading other stuff, why's it all so confusing???

I have an old silver cross Ive just used for my DGD and it has a vented mattress but I dont think its necessary. The visivent mattresses were all the rage when I had my first in 1982 so arent new stuff. I thought they had gone out of fashion because you dont see them on cots any more.

I would use your silver cross pram carrycot because in my opinion its the best and better than any moses basket. They are substantial and lets be honest silver cross are usually very safety conscious. The adverts for new carrycots talking about a ventilated mattress are just a selling point I think, they are certainly nothing new.

Dont forget generations of babies slept in drawers and clothes baskets with no ill effects!
