We're thinking of buying a new family car. Are you happy with yours? Would love to know pros and cons of buying this make. Thanks

My db has one and he loves it, if you need any more info I will ask him for you but hopefully some other more helpful mners will be along soon Grin

I am thinking about one too. There's still part of me that doesn't want to drive round in a Skoda, but they are meant to be great

Although my friend tells me that the car I currently drive (a battered Fiat Punto) is the new Lada Riva

Thanks flutterbee. We are actually down-sizing from a VW people mover to a 5 seater estate. Just worried that we will not find it spacious. Family of 5, btw.

walrus - I'm with you - I can't get over the Skoda "thing" but they look great, are reasonably priced and are made by VW so you can't go wrong!

intergalacticwalrus · 09/04/2006 20:56

They are really nice. The estates are lovely (which is what I am considering)

I drive a octavia estate, very pleased with it. The only gripe I do have is the leg room in the back.Other than that its great.

aah, there was me thinking you'd named yourself after Octavia in the Pipkins!!!!! I'm THAT old.

roosmum · 10/04/2006 08:17

GrinI did name myself after the ostrich Kbear, I've been Octavia long before I got the car!

kiskidee · 10/04/2006 21:03

don't have one but the diesel versions are popular with taxidrivers. I was speaking to one about his octavia once. he said the clock was moving back to zero for the third time. it just keeps going and going...

Some boring (but potentially useful) info \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1012&threadid=163299\here}. Smile (Older 5 series BMs and W124 Mercs can be had dead cheap)
