I have a large toddler and a new born and wondered if those belts that have a sort of ledge, like a solid bum bag, are any good, do they really help in carrying a child and taking some of the strain off your back?

It's called a hippychick, and I love it! Really helps take the strain off - it's my arm where I notice it most.

Oh great, thank you. Where did you get yours from?

I think I got mine from Ebay. Definitely worth trying to get one secondhand, as they're quite expensive new.

I was persuaded by using them at National Trust properties where they don't let you take pushchairs or backpacks round, but will lend you a hip carrier for free.

I haven't finished with mine yet (baby no3 on the way!), but you might find a redundant one through MN's wanted section.

Thanks. Although my overriding feeling at the moment is 'I am so not doing this again!' LOL
