Anyone else get a free baby toy from Vertbaudet with their order? And did it work?

We got a free butterfly thingy with a load of clothes my mum bought for the kids - has alphabet buttons on it and looks rather grand. We put batteries in it and it lasted precisely 10 seconds before giving up the ghost . When we went into the battery compartment, the batteries were really hot (dh suspects it has shorted somewhere). I know it was free, but I'm really disappointed, particularly as ds was rather taken with it! Anyone else have this problem? (I will send it back if I can be bothered).

The electronic freebies are always rubbish. They look great but functionality wise, they're pants.

I would phone them up.Normally their free gifts are nice.Think they would be very apologetic(sp) and send a replacement.
