Not a reccommendation more of a warning. We went through B&Q who promised the works however we had nothing but problems that went on for over a year. It was the usual once they had the money they couldn't of given a hoot. The fitting was terrible even hazardous!!!! we had outside people assess the job and the electric side of it was downright dangerous and the customer service was shockingly astoundingly tactless and uncaring.

thanks!! thats helpful. really dont want to shell out dolphin prices though!

We felt like you and found a company called Hand Built Interiors. We paid £5,000 for the entire job and it is wonderful. It was 3 years ago, and I still think of it as my new bathroom. It was completely stress free and we got exactly the bathroom we wanted.

where are you based?

milge · 04/04/2006 23:03

try bathstore.com my local store has a list of recommended fitters, and bathstore will help plan the bathroom. Get Ripples or Dolphin round to do the design foryou, then source the materials etc yourself. Better and cheaper.

Shock I'd choke at that ! We had 2 done for 7k by a local maintenance guy, including a new stud wall.

jampots · 10/04/2006 16:20

tiredemma - I can recommend someone - excellent job he did in ours

jampots · 10/04/2006 16:22

emma - my sister used to own the Ripples in Sutton. I can try and get her old designers details and see if he can design you something, then at least you know what can go where etc. Still cheaper than going to an all in 1 :)

golds · 10/04/2006 16:47

dolphin work on about £1,000 per day it takes to do the job, they now have there own fitters and not subcontractors anymore, so good quality guaranteed, still alot though I agree, would they not come down on that price ?

DominiConnor · 10/04/2006 16:59

We're just having a new bathroom put in for the nanny. People who lived here before had made some errors such as tiling over plywood, but without enough grout to keep the water out. Have had to go all the way down to bricks :(

My brother's gang are doing this and they're doing a good job. Yeah, I know, he's my brother...
But it does look nice, and we are not being charged the 1,000 quid a day mentioned above.
If you're anywhere near the M11/A11 and a recommendation from someone's brother doesn't sound too dodgy, let me know.

Ask him about splash rooms, scumbag never mentioned them to me when we had the other bathroom built.
