I bought one ages ago on ebay and, stupidly, only plugged it in today! It's quite noisy and doesn't seem to 'pump' much!! Should there be suction if you put it on your hand?? or have I got a dodgy one??

They are noisy beasts.

Suction will fail if air can get into the plastic attachment through a tiny crack etc. Have a really close look !

BTW - the seal needs to be perfect, so unless you've got very special hands (LOL), you will probably be letting some air in...

... only one way to try for sure, zc.

The suction when you put it where it should go will be very strong.
It is quite noisy.

lol Grin I did wonder if there was only really one way to try!!

I imagine an expanse of thigh, belly or bum would also do the trick, LOL. As would a baloon or maybe some taut clingfilm.

Enjoy.

Would recommend you use the mains transformer if you need to pump as the suction from a set of batteries wasn't as good (handy for the car though etc.)

zephyrcat · 02/04/2006 22:10

I did wonder if batteries would be better/worse. I'll have to find a quiet five minutes and have a go to see if I can figure it all out!!

I'm cursed, I've broken four of these the first time I used them - hate the damn things

Hideous. Noisy. Also hilarious... watching nipples getting sucked into it once it strikes up. But it doesn't seem to be very strong until you get it on the breast, and also turn the little dial up to 10 or whatever it goes up to. I never got much out with my one, but I think my supply was low generally. The whirring got on my nerves so much that I have up pumping.

zephyrcat · 09/04/2006 12:10

Help! It's not working/I'm doing it wrong!! It's making plenty of noise but there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of suction... I'm leaking all over my clothes but not getting a drop into the pump....

zc - there should be a little dial for the suction level - turn it up. also make sure your boob is stuffed right in.
