He's fallen in love with a shopping basket on wheels...

He wants to know what the important differences are between the zapp speedi and buzz eg is one totally rubbish and falls apart? or is the buzz simply too bulky?

I personally can't stand the things and want a silvercross but ho hum.

sorry but i think they are awful!
the speedy looks better than the zapp, the zapp, looks like it would fall into a million pieces if it hit a kerb.

lunavix · 01/04/2006 21:28

the buzz looks a bit better too....

I want my gorgeous silvercross pink and charcoal buggy :(

zapp felt too flimsey IMO. I'd got for the buzz purely for the fact the baby can face you.

spacecadet · 01/04/2006 21:28

buzz is better than the zapp i meant..durrrr.

lunavix · 01/04/2006 21:30

misdee - a baby would face you anyways wouldn't they cos you'd have a carseat or carrycot in it? Or is the buzz the only one with reversible seat for older kids too?

i saw one in town the other day, it looked soooo flimsy.
when my dd1 was born 15 years ago, i had a silvercross wayfarer in the days when prams were prams and strollers were strollers[in my day blah blah emoticon]

misdee · 01/04/2006 21:32

dont like travel systems personally.

lunavix · 01/04/2006 21:34

this is what I'm \link{http://www.twoleftfeet.co.uk/Silver_Cross_Linear_Freestyle1.html\dribbling} about, third along... it converts to a pushchair and has the cutest flowers.

i thought the general consensus on travel systems was that it wasnt good for the baby to be in the car seat a lot, better for them to be lying flat(or flattish) if possible.

spacecadet · 01/04/2006 21:36

lunavix i think the silvercross is much nicer.

lunavix · 01/04/2006 21:37

me too.... must continue working on him. He just keeps going on about quinnys and mustys and bugaboos....

thats what i belive SC. i did have the zapp for dd3, and did use it with the car seat but ONLY at the hospital really. She didnt like it that much, and neither did i. its fine on flat ground, but it really put a strain on the wrists if pushing for ages. The Buzz appeals more due to the carry cot attachment and the way the seat reclines more. I think it will last longer than the zapp as well.

misdee · 01/04/2006 21:38

oh you cant go wrong with a silver cross, work on him some more!

spacecadet · 01/04/2006 21:40

yes i only ever used to put the car seat in the pushchair, if i was just popping into town quickly, if i was going to be a long time, i took her out and pput her in the buggy, i had a mamas and papas aria for dd2 for the car and a mamas and papas 3-in 1 with lovely bouncy wheels for pushing round the village.

lunavix · 01/04/2006 21:41

dh hates mamas and papas....

you still using e3 misdee?

OP posts:
spacecadet · 01/04/2006 21:42

the silvercross wayfarer i had for dd1 years ago was lovely, really sturdy.

misdee · 01/04/2006 21:43

nope, i sold it, dd2 started walking more, and it wasnt get used as i passed my test. and dd3 tried to stick her fingers in the spokes.

spacecadet · 01/04/2006 21:44

i dont have them anymore lunavix!!!
got rid of the aria when dd out grew the car seat, so sold as a complete travel system.
sold the bouncy pram too, took up a lot of space and dd is 20 months old now so has a quest, i have to go for light buggys as have a back problem.

lunavix · 01/04/2006 21:45

is the wayfarer a pram or a pushchair? or both?

I always wanted an e3 but ds is getting too old for it (he'll be 2.4 when the babies born so not really an excuse) and although I need a double for CMing I don't think I can justify an e3!

OP posts:
misdee · 01/04/2006 21:48

e3 has a good resale value tho.

spacecadet · 01/04/2006 21:51

the wayfarer was a pushchair with a seperate carrycot, i should think that the silvercross that you are looking at is todays similiar model as the wayfarer will be extinct!

Blush Can't comment on the quinny buzz but in slight defence of the quinny zapp:

  • its extremely compact, excellent for travelling and chucking into crowded car boot
  • Very very easy to steer even with bigger child
  • It looks good (to me) had complimentary remarks whilst out with it

but

  • it's crap when your kiddie falls asleep, no head support and child looks very uncomfortable even if you use something like \link{http://shop.babyworld.co.uk/DisplayDetail.aspx?prodid=460&secid=61\this}
  • does not cope at all well with rough ground, a small pebble, stone or bit of plastic on the floor in TK Maxx can stop you dead in your tracks. I got marroned once in Dulwich Park on a little bit of sand!! Blush dp had to rescue us!!

Get yourself something that will still steer well as child gets bigger is my advise Smile
