Camcorder - v confused

As far as I can tell, there is digital and analogue. Digital is better quality so I'm opting for that. After that, there is a choice of tape, dvd, mini-dvd and hard disk. Mini-dvd sounds naff as there is no such thing as R/W (so you can only use the dvd once.) That leaves me with tape, dvd and hard disk. No idea which one to pick. I just want to be able to edit easily (do you edit on the camcorder or on the computer?) and also have really good quality picture and sound.

How on earth do I choose which one? There are about four million.

Mine is quite old now but its a digital and yes they are better quality. We have the one that you put tapes into. We now have dvd recorder which is good as it means we can transfer from tape to DVD to keep them.
The camcorders come with leads that you can put into a computer to edit.
Your best bet is to go somewhere like dixons and ask them.

Yeah. That's what I thought. Think I'll take a trip to Dixons. Does it take long to transfer to the pc?
