It would help solve alot of my storage probs but i can't really afford that much right now. Has anyone seen anything similar but cheaper anywhere ?

Sorry to tell you this but I think these ARE the cheap version so I don't know if you will get them cheaper - they are copies of ones GLTC and JoJo Maman Bebe have been doing for years which are a LOT more expensive

Jackstini · 29/03/2006 10:44

Have you looked at Ikea? - they usually do really cheap storage options.

nutcracker · 29/03/2006 10:46

Ahhh hadn't realised that katy, thanks. Looks like i'll have to save up for a few weeks first then.

I did think of Ikea but I can't get there to pick anything up anyway.

is it for toys or for your stuff nutty?

Piffle · 29/03/2006 10:48

if its toys then these are good value

nutcracker · 29/03/2006 10:48

how about somewhere cheap and cheerful like wilkos?

nutcracker · 29/03/2006 10:49

Those do look good Piffle but am not keen on the coloured boxes for the living room really.

Might ask my mum if she'll put some towards it as my birthday pressie. Have just measured where I want it for and it would fit perfectly.

homebase have a similar sort of thing but with larger drawers (but far fewer of them)

when I saw it in store, it was around £35

nutcracker · 29/03/2006 10:53

Oh thanks Foxinsocks, i'll have a look.

Gingerbear · 29/03/2006 10:54

nutty, we have this one in the room, with grey boxes - you don't have to get the coloured ones.

nutcracker · 29/03/2006 10:57

Thats not bad Gingerbear, think that might be ok.

i have that one piffle, and tbh i wouldnt recommned it, unless you and your kids always put thing away where you took them from. in my house, it just means the mess is on displya all the time as the stuff never gets put back in the correct trays. or its all over the floor.

the ikea storage trays are much better option i think, but, yes, those are the echeaper version nutty. gltc, and afew other places do them, b ut more expensive.

stitch · 29/03/2006 10:58

yup, much better. wish id seen that a couple of years ago ginger

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/03/2006 11:00

We have \link{http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=7&langId=-20&catalogId=10103&productId=47813\this}

If you can get someone to go to ikea for you that would be great. Whereabouts are you?

With that one - if you look at the different options you can get lots of shallow boxes or a deeper ones (good for larger toys) etc.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/03/2006 11:03

look at \link{http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10103&storeId=7&langId=-20&categoryId=15664&cattype=sub&parentCats=155671611316261*15664&chapterId=15665\this page too}

stitch · 29/03/2006 11:03

we have just the tallish one of that vvd, with shallow yellow drawers. used to be usef for toys, now for numeracy, literacy, comics papers etc. great value

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/03/2006 11:05

Yes, i think so. We have different box colours for DD and DS and lots of different sizes - one for puzzles, one for soft toys/teddies, a huge deep one for all the bulky 'plastic' toys. One for musical stuff etc.

It was really easy to put together too.

foxinsocks · 29/03/2006 11:07

one word of warning - the trofast one that is horizontal rather than tall - every, and I mean EVERY time we went to Ikea it was out of stock EVEN if it showed that there was stock on the website. It drove me absolutely mad.

In the end, on the third visit we got the standing up one (it's quite tall - takes about 5 or so boxes). I find with small children it's a bit of a nightmare because they can pull the whole thing down, even if you do bother to fix it to the wall.

Piffle · 29/03/2006 11:55

At homebase/B+Q etc you can get basic pine storage units, for about £10, then you buy paint boxes to fit in them
I painted all mine and made a nice unit for the living room for about £40.
Bit like this

\link{http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=20001&langId=-1&catalogId=4551&productId=231446\here}
You can then get cheap baskets etc from ikea maybe?

Piffle · 29/03/2006 11:58
