They r about 6 inches deep and fairly flat and you strap them on and they emit a pulse which contracts muscles a bit like a a tens machine but stronger. Just wondered if they were a stupid fad thing or really worked.

I got one after DS1 was born and frankly felt rather foolish smearing onthe pusle-conductive jelly and strapping on the belt. You can barely feel any electrical impulse and the bottom line is ... they don't work, IME.

In fact I read somewhere that the US conusmer association or something similar is banning the manufacturers from selling them as a slimming aid and there only real use is in sports therapy or medical therapy to help patients get the use back of wasted or injured muscles.

So spend the £20 on wine/magazines/knickers get on the floor and do your sit ups!

I've got the slendertone one, it was expensive (around £95) but it is really good. You really do see a difference in muscle tone within a period of around 3 weeks ! The pulses do hurt a bit but once you've done the first 5 or so minutes of each session you do get used to them. It is a pain that you can't use them during your period though.

I don't know about the belt but I got the slendertone shorts and you can do anything you want while you are wearing them the only problem is that you need to stop everything and fully concentrate in them for ten minutes just to put them on! a waste of money...
