Cosatto buggy? Or Maclaren? Help me decide!

I had decided to get a maclaren Techno XT, mostly for the height and reliability. I need to get it in the next 2 weeks, but can't find one on sale.
Cosatto Whizz Max is on sale, and handle is only 1cm lower, but is it any good?

Baby is three weeks old, so I need to make a decision soon! Please help.

Mmm not sure i'm a bit of a buggyholic, and i've not been impressed with cosatto buggies, i had a swift lite and the frame twisted also had a kiwi many years ago, i have 2 maclaren i have an xt and a triumph, the maclaren are much lighter to push i felt the cosatto all the wieght at the back especially when lifting up a kerb or walking for a distance, i feel with the maclarens that the weight is more evenly distributed, also i would say if you don't want to spend too much i would go for a triumph its just as good, just not as big and sturdy as the xt also depends how much walking you do, i have over the years walked the wheels off a few mothercare strollers, so far haven't with my maclarens, i have just recently ordered a new triumph in pink flag to take on holiday and it has new wheels compared to my old triumph, also with maclaren you can always buy new wheels

Jasnem · 20/03/2006 19:49

I guess I'll just part with the extra money for the maclaren (would still get Techno though as Triumph is not suitable from birth, and handle height is not as good for me).
I didn't know you could buy new wheels for Maclarens - I wore them out on my double buggy a few years ago.
I do walk alot (no car, and 3 school runs a day, plus shopping) so I need something good.
Thanks for replyingSmile

Have bought Maclaren Techno XT from kiddicare.com, for £110 approx. (Worth buying the £20 cosytoes at the same time, to avoid paying delivery.) Have used with baby since 3 mths, although on the packaging it did state "from 6 months" in various European languages. However, in UK, marketed "from birth", as almost reclines completely.

Am 6'2" so did loads of research before buying. The extendable handles - despite being ridiculously short in themselves - reach 111cm from the ground - most other buggies go to 104cm. I find it OK, but do hit the buggy with my feet if I'm taking long strides. On the whole though we are really pleased with it - it is simple to put up/down, handles well, and baby seems comfy.

HTH.

I have just brought a Maclaren Techno XT from mothercare on offer for £129.49 they had free delivery is well on offer, i am still waiting for mine getting very excited ! (sad i know)

starlover · 20/03/2006 19:54

I have a cosatto, cheaper one than the whizz and it's FAB!

I would highly recommend them to anyone.

mclarens you just pay for the name... I have a cosatto lunar which is really nice and only cost me £75 brand new (not on offer)
It has nice chunky wheels, it lays completely flat... it has everything any mclaren has but for a much lower cost

Kidstrack2 · 20/03/2006 19:55

no probs, yeah that is one good feature of the adjustable handle height, i usually use it for hanging bags of shopping on

Jasnem · 20/03/2006 19:55

Envy at £110. It's £145 now!
I saw it at that price before Christmas but had no money, so didn't get it. Still have no money, but now have baby, so can't leave it any longer.
Will order it this evening.
If anyone knows anywhere that has it cheaper than Kiddicare (and in stock) please let me know.

only other thing to do to get one cheaper is to buy last years model, think ebay might have some that small companies sell on there

mum2oneandonemore · 20/03/2006 19:59

You talking about the maclaren XT, mothercare have it for £129.49

blueteddy · 20/03/2006 19:59

Have you checked ebay?
I have the Baby Dan anti tip buggy & have been really pleased with it. It has all the features of the Techno - but also has an anti tip feature. You can hang your shopping bags from the handles, remove baby & the buggy doesn't tip back.
I have had loads of buggies & this has been the best one I have had.
It was half price from kiddicare, so only cost me £79.99.

Jasnem · 20/03/2006 20:00

Really don't know what to do now (mothercare is out of stock, maybe I'll wait 'til tomorrow and see if they get any more).

sorry cant do links.

Kidstrack2 · 20/03/2006 20:10

have you looked at the Jane Energy strollers, my friend loves hers, she highly rates hers as better than Maclaren she said they are really light, lighter than Maclaren?. I dont know cause i haven't used one, but they look very stylish similar to Maclaren but maybe nicer to look at?

Jasnem · 20/03/2006 20:24

mum21&1 - Mothercare still says out of stock. Thanks anyway
Kidstrack2- You've added to my choices. I was supposed to be making a decision! It looks lovely. Just a bit worried about handle height(I'm slightly obsessed)
blueteddy_ how high are handles on BabyDan? I've looked it up, and it said "adjustable" but didn't give specifics anywhere.

try pramworld - still £144 (but no delivery charge) but they deliver in a couple of days. Have always had really good service from them.

blueteddy · 20/03/2006 20:29

They are pretty high & you can adjust them to make them higher if you need to. I would say that they are a very similar height to the Techno (my friend has the Techno), infact it is a very similar design all round.
It is a very nice looking buggy (I have the black & silver one), lots of people have admired it & it is the perfect buggy for shopoholics like myself!!

Kidstrack2 · 20/03/2006 20:31

My friend is 5" 7 and looks comfortable pushing it, its prob about 104 i would of thought, but if you wanna try one out, visit some local baby stores that sell Jane products/Maclaren and push them about for a bit, then order whichever online to save money, i have even said in a local baby store shop if they would do a price match and hey presto they matched it

Jasnem · 20/03/2006 20:48

I'm liking the babydan one now.
got to go to crying baby, so I'll make a decision later....

OP posts:
blueteddy · 20/03/2006 20:54

I would definitely reccomend the Babydan buggy.
I had a maclaren Triumph, but I was fed up with it tipping back if you so much as hung a handbag on the handle. This one, you can hang loads of shopping bags on the handles, remove baby to put it in the car & the buggy doesn't tip back!
You also don't see many of them about, which is nice.

blueteddy · 20/03/2006 21:08

Have you seen that kiddicare have them for £79.99?
They have a nice red & black one & they now also feature a head support, which didn't come with it when I bought mine.

Jasnem · 20/03/2006 21:10

Yes Grin
I'm going to order it when I've finished feeding Boy (nameless baby)

blueteddy · 20/03/2006 21:15
