anyone got any good ideas? does anywhere delivery something like a hamper of edible goodies for a new mum? anywhere do really nice baby gift deliveries? need to order it online.

Champagne online is a good idea alot of companies do special new baby packages [bottle of champagne plus booties or the like]

I had the baby blooms bouquet when DS2 was born and it is lovely. The clothes are gorgeous.

our friend in aussie sent us a balloon in a box along with boots vouvhers. A lovely gift.

I sent some champagne last week via Oddbins, got there in 2 days and was cold, packaged in polystyrene. With my first baby my house was like a flower shop, with the second I only got one bunch, so if it's a second baby she might even like the flowers!

More use than chocolates too - cheese and biscuits is a Proper Meal when cooking is too much effort. We were given one as a housewarming present when we had no kitchen and it was a godsend!

thanks everyone. I went with the baby blooms bouquet in the end. I agree about second babies and flowers - couldn't believe how many we got for dd1 but dd2 not many at all. I have always thought that my ideal gift would be a hamper of cake and biscuits and nice tea for guests, plus a couple of home-cooked meals that you could put straight in the oven. Have never found it though. For me personally, any champagne we got stayed in the fridge for weeks. I was way too tired to contemplate booze.
