Printer is useless, which one should we buy?

We have an HP photosmart with inbuilt scanner copier. It's been useless, the sheet feed doesn't work properly, the inks are chipped so you have to either buy very pricy HP ones or mess around swapping chips from one ink to another. What printer do you have that you're happy with?

I would suggest you buy the best you can afford making the price of the replacement ink cartridges your main priority, Lexmark for example do make a good printer at a reasonable price but the replacement cartridges tend to be only a few pounds short of the price of the actual printer.

I bought a brother laser one off amazon. The toners last all year and I do lots of printing.

What are you printing? I have an Epson R300 for photos and general stuff. You can get compatible inks too so it doesn't cost a fortune. It's quite old now (about 5 years) but still going strong.

I would suggest a laser printer too. This deal looks good, but check the reviews for that model.

We print packaging labels for eBay, bits off the Internet for school projects, lots of documents for school for DH (teacher) and colouring sheets and certificates of cbeebies.

I've had a laser printer before and liked that I didn't have the fuss of cartridge changes all the time. I thought the colour ones were far more than that Dell one is advertised for, with toners! I'll check the reviews thank you.

I had a brother multifunction with fax about 15 years ago monotone but that was reliable so I do have a good feeling about brother stuff. I'll check into those.

I'll read up on Epsom r300's and see if they are still available.

Thank you all, I'm off to research more.

Epsons are good for photo and colour printing and HPs last forever
