F&B paint colour - any experts out there?

Need to pick a paint colour ASAP for our bedroom - decorators wants to start at the weekend. Don't want to spend a fortune on testers, and then days umming and aahing over which shade! We're looking for a neutral colour - beigey grey. Bedroom is north facing and is a big, cold room, so want a warm tone, but not too light and not too dark. Any suggestion?

Maybe Shaded White, Bone, Skimming Stone or Elephant's Breath??

I have just redecorated the entire house and I'm really pleased with the result. I would say that you will have to do tester pots , IME, it is the only way. I wanted a warm white in two rooms and the ones I thought would be fine were not. We have one small dark room and the right colour has transormed it. It really is worth the trouble.

In the end I didn't use any F&B, none of them were right, I used Dulux Simply Colour, which has a very good range of neutrals.

Well, if it's a large and coldly lit room you might try something a bit less cold, iyswim - I have got a pot of Ringwould Ground which is beautiful, but haven't used it yet so I can't say what it looks like 'on'.

It's a sort of pinky-yellowy-beigey-cream, very warm, fairly neutral.

I'm sure there are others in between yours and mine that would be warm but less 'bright'. I do think you need to choose something that warms up the light though.

Grin I like the look of Dimity on the F&B website. Bit warmer than the elephant one but still pretty neutral.

I'm amazed at how much the testers vary! I like Elephant Breath but it came out much darker than I expected. Dimity came out much lighter! Still not sure....

I'll see what the tester patches look like in daylight, and maybe paint some on different walls.

I'm liking Elephants Breath best at the moment!

Another dilemma I have is that we've just had 2 lots of floor to ceiling wardrobes built on two sides of the room, and I'm not sure if they should be painted the same colour as the walls ie elephants breath, or the same colour as the woodwork? Wanted them to blend in, so thought they'd be same colour as walls, but now we're going with a darker shade than originally planned, I'm worried they will be too overpowering?
