S****** Tommee Tippee nappy wrapper!!!!

Was great until they changed the cartridges a few months ago.
Not only do the new ones cost over a fiver each, they are so stiff we keep putting our hands through the film in an attempt to push the nappy down, thus getting hand covered in poo and poo all over the inside of the wrapper! Absolutely infuriating!
Anyone else got one of these and having the same problem? Has anyone complained? Or, does anyone know where you can get the old style cartridges?

I gave up using this ages ago because I couldn't stand the smell of it, no matter how hard I cleaned it, and also because of the cost of the refills. I had actually bought a few refills on ebay, slightly cheaper than buying in the shops. There have been threads about the nappy wrapper, I seem to remember lots of mums having problems with them.

We had one 5 yrs ago when dd1 was born. Again, it was OK to start with but they changed the cartridges after about a year and the new ones were rubbish. Just stopped using it in the end.

mumatuks · 15/03/2006 22:19

eurgh yuk, we only use our nappy wrapper for the wet ones, the pooey ones go outside in the bin. Even when we lived in a flat we took them out!

As for the wrapper, they don't seem to move down as easy IYSWIM. Infact I've stopped using ours and just use nappy sacks. If anyone wants 3 cartridges.....

SHHHH · 16/03/2006 12:20

You know I though it was us....we don't have a problem like you kathy but I garee they are stiff..Our problem is that the lid doesn't close..? Is this due to the cartridge being changed..? It used to close before but not now! Not ideal as it doesn't keep smells out!

Mmmm gives me an idea to get onto tommeetippee

mumatuks,
how much would you like for the three cartridges? I agree that the bin has got more difficult to use with the new style cartridge but we're perservering (sp!)
Thanks

I think you might be able to get old-style cartridges direct from Tommee Tippee -

though I'm not sure they're the ones you mean...

I phoned them recently about the problem of the plastic "gripper" things in ours coming out and getting lost - and they were very helpful and agreed to send me replacements (the woman had a very resigned "I'll just deal with complaint number 126512765" tone but she was nice) so try them (number on the website). I think tnappy wrapper is a good idea and will be great once they get all the details right...

Kathy1972 · 17/03/2006 10:24

Thanks Snowleopard.

We have the same problem as you with the grippers - DH forgets to check so they end up in the bin and several times I've had to forage through our rubbish bin trying to rescue them! We lost a couple in the end - I will try to get some more.

Agree - wrapper is great idea, brilliant when it works!

Doh, (slap hand on forehead expression) Have done everything bar sitting on my yellow monstrosity (sp?) to try and get the bloomin lid closed after changing the cartridge.

What a rip off...fume fume...another thing to add to the skip when we move.

buffythenappyslayer · 19/03/2006 19:05

we had the yellow one, then the lid broke,so i bought the new one.i love it!never had any probs with the new one.i pay £3.45 for the cartridges from tesco.and toys r us do them and they arent too pricey from there either

SHHHH · 20/03/2006 08:20

I have news for those of us who are having problems with trying to close the lids on the yellow bins due to a change in the cartridge.....

I spoke to TT, now if you remove the blue ring from the top of the bin and throw it away (not needed now), the lid will then close ok.
I have tried it and it works.!!!

Also I called for some more grippers and have been sent some..just awaiting postman pat with the delivery. I can recommend their customer services. They were brill when I spoke to them on fri.

dreamteamgirl · 21/03/2006 10:54

Also, it sounds obvious, but now we put the nappy in, twist and THEN push down again so there is always a nice big hole to put the pooey one in!!

before I was always trying to push down with the dirty one.. Ewwwww
