Bunk Bed Ideas

Hi,
DS is 3.5 and is currently using the bed part of his cotbed. We want to get bunk beds and free up the cotbed as we are expecting another baby boy in spring. So can anyone recommend any particular brand/type and how much would you say is a fair price to pay?
Thanks

\link{http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6643557.htm\Argos} (sssh, I'm not really admitting to that).

DD1 was 4 and dd2 just 2 when they went into ours, and it's not as tall as the normal ones (ie not so far to fall!) They also do a \link{http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6611565.htm\shorter} version of it - but we opted for the normal length because of bed linen etc.

And I built it myself, so it can't be that difficult!!!

Thanks I'll look into that. Also interesting to see it says suitable from age 3. I noticed that lots say they are unsuitable for under 6 years.

we have just ordered a silver metal one from littlewoods-online its only £179.99 complete with 2 matresses, we were going to buy alovely pine one from john lewis which was £550 not including matresses but ds1 wants a silver one!

I would recommmend something really solid. so that when sundry small children climb and swing all over it it doesn't wobble.

mine were in theirs at 4 and 2, but forbidden to ever bounce on the top. and only allowed to sleep up top when over 3 or so.

This site is GREAT. I got my bunk bed from there the saturn one with mAtresses for £75. I don't think they have mattresses with that one now, but there are a few others. If you aren't in a hurry then wait and keep checkign that site, as the stock changes all the time and I've seen lots of bunk beds on there. It's basically stock from catalogue companies that has been discontinued.

Thanks. I would tend to prefer a pine one but DH would probably like metal. Looks like prices vary hugely. We are not ready yet but in a couple of months I'll check again and then it might depend on quickest delivery times as well.
Fennel you're right I'm sure boys would use it as a monkey frame!
VYY sounds like you got a good deal. Does it feel good and sturdy?
