can anyone recommend a 7 seater car that looks like a car and not a people carrier.

we are on a budget so needs to be economical to run

thank you

No proper 7-seater is economical to run. Not my definition of economical, anyway.

?Zafira, Touran, older style Mitsubishi spacewagon.
Land Rover ones, Discovery I think? (gas guzzlers, of course)
Estate with the bolt-on seats to fit 4 children, or with a boot seat to fit 1-2 extras.
Do you actually need to transport >5 people?

we've just got a vw caddy maxi life which isn't too bad i don't think. claims to do about 37mpg

looks quite van-y though, on account of being one Grin

what about the ford s-max?

chipsandbeans · 20/08/2012 14:46

how often do you need to use it? I have a peugeot 807 which isn't too bad to run but thats mainly because I don't drive everyday..

Zafiras are awful if they are petrol, they guzzle the stuff, don't know what the diesel version is like though, I used to have one and wouldn't get one again, very small inside too with just 3 kids if you need any boot space at all. We've got a Kia Sedona, it's big but it's very comfy, doesn't look too van like and it's really great on the diesel too considering it's size.

Toyota Verso.

It is brilliant. The back seats fold completely flat when not in use. The deisel version is very economic. We used to have a galaxy and we honestly don't miss it. The toyota is a nicer drive and doesn't feel cramped.

We've just bought a qashiqai+2 but don't have it yet!

We had a Citroen Grand C4 Picasso diesel. For a 7 seater it was quite economical. It wasn't my favourite car, but there was nothing horrible about it really.
