CD to MP3?

What's the best FREE software for converting CD to MP3?
Or what is crap and should be avoided?
Am finally entering the 21st century and don't want to arse it up.

I think if you just copy the cd to your computer it automatically becomes an mp3. What are you trying to do?

I just want to convert some CDs to MP3. Am trying to copy now - it seems to be doing something so must be on the right track.
I WILL master this new-fangled technology, I WILL!

Hhm, copied files but they're Windows Media Files not MP3. Need to be MP3.
Still, one step at a time. Haven't even got MP3 player yet so am getting ahead of self anyway.

When you want to put tracks onto your mp3 player, it might convert them for you. I haven't got one so I don't know, but I'm sure it will be ok.
