please can you recommend a swimming cap for my son. his school are insisting on it for lessons. He starts swimming lessons in September. there are so many different ones made from different materials. i have had a look on the speedo website but was hoping for a recommendation, ie best make or material (something not to expensive as i know he will lose it)

also which is easier to put on, he has special needs and struggles with motor skills and i am not sure how much help he will get from the teacher

I prefer the silicon hats but if your son struggles with his motor skills he may find a fabric hat much easy to get on. The silicon hats are very tough and grip the head well but can be more difficult to get on. Most sports shops sell kids hats.

We have a zoggs one and it is great.

It's my DD's - she started swimming lessons a little while ago and I remembered the difficulty of getting the rubbery ones on and so I did some research.

They are one size - DD wears it every week & she has quite long hair and I wore it swimming once as well and was able to get it on pretty easily despite being an adult with thick hair way down my back!

In short I think they are great. Get one of these and practice a bit with him Smile it will be fine.

Basically if your son has short hair he will be able to just put this on like a normal hat no problems.

I agree with the zoggs, they have been great, my dc (7+5) can put them on fine despite long hair, while all around us others are struggling. They aren't waterproof, so they do get wet hair, but it's a small price to pay.
