sofas- which would you have leather or fabric?

curtains- is it a no-no to have venetian blinds with curtains aswell?

trying to do up my living room, but i'm a bit rubbish really.

I like blinds but live in an oldish terraced house so was worried it wouldn't look right

advce needed!

We have a leather sofa and 2 leather chairs. Would not ever swap for fabric given the punishment they get.
Generally we have roman blinds or curtains downstairs. In our study though we already have curtains and am shopping around for a venetian blind to keep the sun out this summer (computer). I don't see why you shouldn't have both if you want. They look a hell of a lot better than nets if you ask me. I'm waiting for a delivery of plants for the front garden to give us some privacy from passers-by (we're set about 1.5m off the road), but if we didn't have one I would definitely have a venetian blind there as well. In the bedrooms we have curtains and roller (blackout) blinds in the bedrooms which is a bit more bizarre a combination.
Beware laminate flooring, if you're considering it. Our house has timber floors and it's bit chilly underfoot.
Our house is 100 years old btw.
