Vauxhall Tigra??

Just wondered if anyone has a vaxhuall tigra? I'm looking at a 1996 but cannot find anywhere how many seats it has?! Have done lots of googling but cant find the answer. Also if it does have 4/5 seats, would a front facing car seat fit in the back? I just need a small, cheap car for me and my DD and a tigra keeps popping up.
One last thing sorry, would my buggy fit in the boot? (silver cross vogue)

Sorry for my waffling, thank you if anybody does know Smile

Does this help?

I had a 96 Tigra years ago. It only has 2 seats in the back - they are a bit of a funny shape so you may need to be prepared to change car seats to find one that fits securely.

The boot was quite reasonable depth wise if I remember correctly but not very wide.

It's a good 12 years since I had one so memory a bit shonky - sorry. Could you find a local one on Autotrader and go and check it out maybe?

Thank you so much Flowers. So the one I'm looking at has got 4 seats, now just to see if the car seat would fit!

yes maxi cosy fits in the back and a quinny buzz fits in the boot, we had one when we had dd, then we got a new car when she was two.

now im after a secod runabout for in the day, was thinking of a ford puma, but might end up with a 206/focus

if its just for you and one child id say it would be fine

PollyLove · 29/07/2012 22:19

Oh good to hear about the car seat and Quinny, think this could be the car for us! I love the pumas too, we looked at the focus but then spotted the tigra cheaper. Thank you for your help!

I had a tigra and had 3 kids in it (had car before kids-am a nanny). The rear seats are these I took it to a large mothercare, we had this carseat for the baby and were looking to get a suitable next stage one for him to move into in a few months. They were not happy with the fit of it or any group one car seat they had in stock in the rear seats, because the seats are not flat, as you can see in the picture, so the carseats did not sit securely on. The second issue was that the seatbelt clip is on a short strap rather than sunk into the seats, you may also be able to see this on the picture if you look closely. This meant that when pulled tight the clip was against the side of the carseat and they felt it was not safe as it could possibly be clicked out from the position it was in. They fitted one in the front with airbag off and said that is all they would recommend.

I also had 4 yr old on a booster and 6 yr old not on one as seats are smaller than usual (handbook actually says rear seats not suitable for someone over a certain height, forget what it was but not really great for adults for any length of time!) and when she was on a booster her head was above the headrest. This was when the new car seat laws came in and as it was my job I was worried about the car seat issue because of the back seats. I spoke to the local traffic police and they told me to bring car in to look at. They agreed with mothercare that baby should be in front and with me that 4yr old on booster/6 yr old not but I had to get a seatbelt adjuster for her. They gave me their names to call if I was ever stopped by police about not having 6yr old on a car seat as it was not a standard car and not a standard case.

We had a mclaren buggy which didn't fit in the boot so my boss bought a smaller one. We also had a loola travel system and the chassis of that just fitted and no more. The boot is bigger than it looks and deep but not particularly wide at the entrance.

Hope that helps. Loved the car but in the end had to sell for something bigger

Hi, we've moved this to our Cars topic, thanks.

PollyLove · 30/07/2012 08:41

Didn't know there was a car topic, sorry Blush
Thank you for your reply, very helpful. Hadn't thought of putting baby next to me, really it's only me and her who will be in it and perhaps my sister but she's only 5ft so could maybe cope with being in the back. I'm worried about the buggy now though as your mclaren was probably similar size to my buggy which isn't particularly big.
Going to try and find one local to me today so I can do run through with the buggy and carseat.
Ah I love the car but just don't know how practical it is for us.

Just googled and the length of the loola chassis folded seems to be about 92cm and the silver cross pop vogue 105cm (though not sure how accurate these are) so I'd worry about it fitting in the boot. You could put it on the back seats if you won't be using them though? Trying to find one to try it out sounds like the best plan to reassure yourself.

If you decide to go for one ask if the timing belt and/or head gasket has been replaced and also check the wheel arches for rust. All common faults so good if repairs have already been done and you won't need to do them. If you can afford it the slightly later models (i think after 98 but as has been a few years since I knew all this I could be wrong on the year) had improved suspension which made a huge difference to the car, much smoother, quieter, not the tinny, rattly sound the first editions had. (My dad is mechanic so I have to know these things and we test drove a lot before buying mine!)

Great, thank you for your help
