Sore botty

We use reusable terry towels - and they are great. However, they are heavy when dirty so not great when out and about.

Because of this, I have tried disposables on a couple of occasions but DS gets a rash from them. Not sure if this is because I also used a commercially produced wipes (Johnsons Extra care, Tesco unperfumed, Tushies) on his butt at the same time (we usually use flannel & water at home). If anyone can recommend a really non-allergenic nappy & wipe, I'd be grateful for the advice.

I use the Simple wipes which we've never had a problem with, I've got very sensitive skin & can use them on my face. Plus in Tesco they're about 1/2 the price of Johnsons etc.

could you not get a couple of pocket nappies to use when out and about? Easier to manage than terries.

SleepySuzy · 05/03/2006 21:09

Yeah, Simple are really good for nappy rash.

use drapolene on a sore botty.. it's bright pink though so may stain terry's

starlover · 05/03/2006 21:11

not sure about non-allergenic... something like moltex oko? i think that's made without chemicals so may be nicer on his skin.
are nature babies like that too? i can't remember

SleepySuzy · 05/03/2006 21:11

I like Sudocrem, but that may be my nursing background, it has been the cream of choice everywhere I've worked. At nursery I think they prefer Metanium. Just remember if you use it to spread thinly.

i like bepanthan

Just a thought could you not take cotton wool balls & a little bottle of water out with you & just use them.

SleepySuzy · 05/03/2006 21:17

Is that yellow, Starlover? That may be the one they use at nursery.

alliebaba · 05/03/2006 21:18

you could always dampen cotton wool, put it in a tupperware.. keeps moist

starlover · 05/03/2006 21:20

it's a kind of off-white ss! lol

Cheers for your thoughts. Am going to try Natures Babies nappies next, and buy an empty spray bottle of water to use with Bounty kitchen roll (which I hear won't fall apart in the poo!!)

Hopefully that will help the bum situation :)
