Following on from the thread about kids shoes from NEXT, Does anyone reccomend Doc Martens for kids

I thought Doc Martens were for adults, I never realised you could get them for kids

As an adult I know they HURT till they have melted into your feet so I have never put my dds in them. Have flogged a few pairs on ebay though :)

Doubt they are very good for little children's feet! Bit like the timberland boots et al. Probably quite unhealthy as they don't allow for any flexibility.

Exactly CC - My Docs hurt like hell for two weeks when I first got them. Why would I put my kids through that?

My docs are fine now and I wear them most days, but to put a child in them seems strange

startrite did something very similar years ago... DD had a cherry pair of ankle boots and a blue flowery pair (that sound horrid but were lovely)...

got a pair from the Covent garden shop for dss when he was little and the measured hsi feet etc and he LOVED them and they fitted him well. He was about 5 at the time. But were crap tho as he wore them out really quickly, more so than other shoes of that price.

I still want a pair for dd whe shes a little bit older. wil prob get her sandles from there.

err didnt get him boots btw. got shoes. Docs do LOADS of differnt designs of shoes boots and sandals and I love their sandals

Aha, excellent just the type of opinions I wanted - MN has made my day yet again, and you have no idea why.

I only ever had bother with boots, shoes always did me a treat & I wore them till they all cracked on the top. Never wore out the soles tho' [nostalgia emoticon}

?????????? come on then tell us??

busybusybee · 03/03/2006 23:27

Because I work with a group of people who are all from another country (will not say which!), who all assume they know everything, they are perfect, never wrong, have the best of everything etc.

I showed one of them dd and her brand new first pair of shoes today (clarks) and he said "Oh we will only buy DOc Martens for our kids, E will have some as soon as he needs shoes" in a really up himself way- GRrrrrrrrrrrr.

His little boy is only 16months!

Its bizarre cos I felt patriotic about Clarks until i realised Docs are British too (except of course neither are actually made in this country anymore)
