Hi guys,

I would really like to get some lovely photos done of dd. My friend recently had some done at Vantive(?) think that's what it's called but I can't find a website.

Basically I would love something like that or some Black and White photos or something - I'm open to suggestions... and am not fussed about location or price as I was thinking I'd ask my parents to pay (as christmas present)

I have had some normal portraits done throughout her first year but I'd really like something a bit different... so if any of you have any recommendations/ideas I'd be really grateful...

Thank you...

VENTURE - That's it... thought Vantive was wrong!!

Twinkie - you'll love them... my friends were so beautiful and I was so envious. Definitely worth the money (IMHO). Don't worry about no mail, I guessed you were busy when you didn't reply to my last one. Hope you're ticking along ok. Will speak soon when things have calmed down abit. xx

...so... no other recommendations/ideas then?

Venture seem to be the most innovative and proffesional of all studiop photography. I have WON a days shoot there with one free picy. So we might have a go. I do my own photography of family in b&w.

OOOh thats a bit steep!!!!

fio2 · 12/12/2003 12:38

My friends had them done too on the offer but ended up buying another about the same figure as Twinkies. Also you have to have it mounted and framed by them. My Dad always used to say 'you never get something for nothing'

janh · 12/12/2003 12:39

Everybody wins a free shoot with Venture - fill in the form at the supermarket or wherever and bingo!

V nice but v dear. We got 2 framed (no glass - plastic-coated (?)) b & w prints, 8x10 I think (could be 10x12, not sure now) for a total of c £220 - that included the value of the "free" one we also "won".

(One of the lavish albums on display in the waiting area included lots of large colour pics of Alan Shearer and family At Home (huge fireplace, enormous rocking horse etc) - this was in Blackburn btw - so I guess the footballers subsidise the rest of us!)

janh · 12/12/2003 12:40

(Unless they get theirs free for the publicity and we subsidise them )

salt · 12/12/2003 12:44

My friend only paid £75 for two because she had a party(?!) not framed or anything but are gorgeous.

I guess Venture it is then, would love to have found somewhere else though.

Thing is though that you can spot a venture shot a mile off - lots of leaping and hugging....

tamum · 12/12/2003 13:28

Salt, there are always several adverts in the back of Junior for portrait photographers. I've never used any, and have no idea how much they cost, but the adverts look quite nice! Let me know if you want me to look up some details for you.

salt · 12/12/2003 13:32

Tamum - what is Junior, a magazine?

OP posts:
tamum · 12/12/2003 13:32

Yes, that's right, shall I have a look?

salt · 12/12/2003 13:37

Yes please - If any have websites I'd be interested to have a look. Otherwise I'll go hunting on the baby mag shelf...

Right, I'm typing these in, so they won't be proper links:
www.kensharp.com
www.momentscaptured.com
www.monochromestudio.com
www.kiddipics.com

There are a couple more with just phone numbers, so if these are no good just let me know and I'll get the names for you. They all have nice example pics in the adverts, but then they would, wouldn't they

salt · 12/12/2003 13:46

Thank you sooooo much, that was really kind of you... am off to look. Has anyone noticed that my workload is extremely light today

You've got me going now- I always assumed that they would all be based in the South East, but I just looked at the Ken Sharp one and he works from Glasgow too.... Hmmmmm.....
Let us know how you get on, won't you?

salt · 12/12/2003 14:02

Tamum - Just looked at the monochromestudio website...
(it's .co.uk in case anyone else wants to look)
... and her photos look beautiful - a little like Venture but Black and White - almost a cross between Venture and Ann Geddes(sp?) ... called her up and she seemed really friendly, am kind of plumping for her now but she's expensive - £65 just for the session. The photos are extra.

She's also quite a way from me, will sweet talk the parents this weekend. Am excited now!
