Needs to be very sturdy because of the way the young things loll about, sit on their feet etc and wreck it - any recommendations? Should we get an actual office chair (twice the price but presumably worth it?) Good websites?

Dh has been looking for you, Jan, because we have an excellent one which we bought from Viking Direct.com for £29.99 - leather, swivelly, 'executive' chair, fantastically good for the price, and has stood up to the terrible twosome swizzling about on it. Unfortunately they haven't got any at the moment but according to moneysavingexpert the exact same chair is currently in Morrisons for £24.99. Have you got a Morrisons near you? \link{http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=132503&page=1&highlight=viking+leather\Here's the thread on mse}

I think there was a section in the Sat or Sun Times on chairs but it was a "looking after your back" item so they were very pricey. Our PC chair is the Viking one in SL's post. It's comfy enough for an hour or so at a time but doesn't have the section that moulds to your lower back to give it support so you have to sit up straight yourself. I'd still recommend it for home use. HTH.

Ohhh, I saw that thread at the time, moo, but there is only 1 Morrisons near here and I never bothered to follow it up cos I assumed if they'd had any they would have gone by the time I saw it. I've been looking at Viking via \link{http://www.freefivers.co.uk/homepage.php\Freefivers (4.5%!)} but they don't seem to have anything like that atm.

Thank you though! (And DH Smile)

He carried on looking, Jan, and tried Partners (the Stationers) because that's where we got our other leather 'exec' chair from (we're a two executive household, y'know?) Only Partners seems to have gone bust and his google search came up with a load of dodgy escort agencies. At least, that's what he told me...

Aero · 01/03/2006 22:17

I got a similar one to SL from \link{http://www.neat-ideas.com/ENG/Catalog/stap_home.asp?CT=1\Neat Ideas}. Cost £29.99 plus VAT. Comfy and sturdy for the price. Not in every catalogue, but fairly regularly featured. I just registered and now get a little catalogue every few weeks. Wasn't long until the chair offer appeared.

turniphead · 01/03/2006 22:19

makro?

turniphead · 01/03/2006 22:19

ikea even?

JanH · 01/03/2006 22:24

lol at DH's "Partners", moo!

We don't have a visa for Makro, turniphead (whoever you are Grin). IKEA a possibility though - will try yours too, Aero.

Hi, Angua (whoever you are, too!)

Dh informs me that Partners haven't gone bust (I kind of knew that - I was in there today Blush) but they don't appear to have a website. I think Staples have gone bust though - their big shop in Stockport has gone. You know, in a stationers who have gone bust kind of aside.

JanH · 01/03/2006 22:33

Staples have???? coo! You'd think stationers would always have a market, wouldn't you?

I found a nice leather chair called Leo at Aero's place but it was £50 Shock - 5 year guarantee on structure though (DS1 is 15 stone+ now, sits on his feet as previously mentioned and flings himself backwards which is why we need a new one Grin)

Are "office" chairs stronger than "home" chairs though?

I bought a new computer chair in Staples on Saturday...

SorenLorensen · 01/03/2006 22:39

Maybe it's just Staples in Stockport then?

fairydust · 02/03/2006 07:32

we've had this \link{http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=1361%2C1368,1373&webid=4m370&affixedcode=WW\one} for the past five yrs and it's just about ready for replacing and we'll probly go for the same one again

JanH · 02/03/2006 09:36

Thanks, fd - that's interesting, it's the same picture as \link{http://www.neat-ideas.com/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?Description=leather_3&CatIds=18472,18513,18514,18516&webid=66932&affixedcode=WW\Leo} from Aero's Neat Ideas, but £10 cheaper - will prob go with that one!

Jan - the chair I have I think is a Leo (looks the same anyway) - it was on a special offer which they run regularly. My friend got one and told me about it and when I looked on their website it wasn't there, but I registered and sure enough a few weeks later the offer came through in the post. Looks like a lot of stores/websites are selling the same item at various prices!

Feistybird · 02/03/2006 12:56

We bought ours off ebay. Ex-office. Bargain.

Aero · 04/03/2006 22:01

Leo chair now £39.99 in Neat Ideas catalogue I got in the post today Jan.
