Ready beds

Just wondering if anybody has ne of these and if so how good they are. We go away quite a lot and dd is too big for the travel cot now. She is just over 2 so I don't know whether to go for 'my first ready bed' (from 2) or the standard one (from 3). She is very tall but I know the first one has blow up bumpers beside it so is it more of a safety issue thn size?
Any advice much appreciated.

We have a ready bed (without the bumpers) my son is 3 but I think it would be fine for 2 year old. It is really handy and he loves sleeping in it.

We used the standard sized one for dd1(5) from the age of about 3. Absolutely brilliant things, and would def get one if I were you. Wouldn't worry too much about the safety issue - if they do fall out, they haven't got far to fall!

I just brought one for DS1, as he is in a big boys bed at home and sees it as a insult if he has to go in a cot and his Grandma and Grandads house! I used it just his last weekend and he loved it. slept well in it too.

Becareful on the price. The shop we got ours from sold them for £30 plus P&P online, but we won one of their ebay auctions and got it for £20 (exc P&P) but still a tenner less!

Easy to use and packs away in the little bag too!

We have them for our children. I think ds was about 3 when he first started using his but as kando says they haven't got far to fall. I would definately recommend them - good customer service too.

we have standard sized ones for dds (5 and 3) and use them loads. they love them. I'm not convinced you need bumpers - even for a 2 year old - firstly coz they're zipped in, second coz they're only about 6 inches max off the floor so the worst they can do is give themselves a bit of a bump. I suspect this is one of those cases of trying to convince parents of a need that doesn't really exist.

the bags for ours are just big enough for a change of clothes and a teddy as well - which is prefect.

Than you so much, will definitely buy one. Just found these:

Hopefully these links will work. Seems pretty good price even if they dobt have princesses on them as requested by dd! I'm swaying towards the moon and stars one...

I put my dt's in a standard ready bed from about 2 onwards and they have always slept really well. The bumper ones weren't around last year, so i'd just go for the full size one, if I were you.

foxinsocks · 01/03/2006 10:58

the moon and star one is very nice

I got dd one for her birthday last year but I did get the dreaded disney princess one (much loved by dd!).

I think you can get them at Argos and Amazon.

foxinsocks · 01/03/2006 10:59

here's the \link{http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3667244.htm\disney princess one}

Hayls · 01/03/2006 11:00

Lol, it's the princess one that dd wants as well! She also likes the jungle one but I prefer the moon one. Am i a real tightwad by picking the cheapest one when she WANTS a princess one? TBH, on that site the princess one is only £5 more so it's not exaclty going to break the bank but still...

I have also been looking into these. How big are they when they are in a bag. My dd is going on a trip with her grandparents to Ireland and I was thinking of getting one of these for her as she is getting a big old for her travel cot. But wondered about taking them on a plane or as luggage?
