Trying to find an NZ (Wellington) book or music store online as I want to send my brother book/DVD/CD vouchers for Xmas. But not having any success. Can any NZ mumsnetters give me a link and/or name of a store which I could ring up?

Thanks!
Donna

Try www.realgroovy.co.nz - they do records, books etc - no postage costs but they don't gift wrap or anything. I'm not sure how the voucher system works but they are in Auckland unfortunately - so this thought is more the gift buying maybe than vouchers.

Wish I could help florenceuk ... unfortunately there is very little around in NZ ... I tried to find an online bookshop about a year ago and could find nothing ... sorry - pretty hopeless for a country that is quite up on the techie/computer/IT front ...
Mmmmmm... (ghosty deep in thought) ... perhaps there is my opportunity .... a gap in the market perhaps????

SueW ... you are thinking of Whitcoulls .... do they have an online service??

Ghosty · 10/12/2003 23:34

I have just answered my own question .... just looked at Whitcoulls.co.nz and on the home page it says ... "We do not offer online book orders" ...
Frankly, if Whitcoulls don't do it then you won't find much joy elsewhere ... (Biggest bookstore chain in NZ ... part of WHSmith apparently .... )

Definitely a gap in the market then and not just my crap internet searching skills - I couldn't live without Amazon here (or the Book People). I think I will call a bookshop and see what they can do.

SueW ... you are right ... most NZ shops still have that lovely old fashioned 'go out of their way for the customer' thing ... but it is usually individual shops (who do beautiful gift wrapping service and finding what you want etc).
Unfortunately in Auckland there are several malls and chains springing up where individuality is disappearing and you spend your time dealing with 16 yr old school leavers who haven't a clue about anything much ....
