Thinking of getting mum a vacuum cleaner but as she is fairly old wanted something lightweight. Anyone any recommendations? (Has to be an upright). All comments gratefully received.

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old, but we've recently spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out vacuum cleaners, so here's our round-up of the best lightweight vacuum cleaners available to buy now.

Hope this helps! Flowers

I've got an Oreck. It's very efficient, with a nice long handle, and only weighs about 8lb. I'm not sure if you can buy it in the shops but an internet search will bring them up. HTH.

Just had a look at the site that mothernature posted the link to, I've got the GTECH cordless cleaner. It's really quite good, takes up hardly any space and you charge it up the same way you do a mobile phone. It is very lightweight so is easy to carry upstairs, no bag to empty, just a tray that pulls out. Here's the website. GTECH

Thanks so much for your help on this. I've only just checked it as have been in bed with a v bad cold!! Is very useful. And the Gtech seems like it would be good for our laminate floors.
