Made muffins this morning. Texture was great but really not much of a chocolate taste. Well naff really. We've been using Cadbury's cocoa. Any suggestions please?

I think the purists suggest that Green and Blacks is the best but I can only ever afford Cadburies or Sainsburies (afaik the only supermarket to stock their own brand of cocoa). Out of the two, I prefer Sainsburies as it is darker but I shouldn't be doing myself out of profits by suggesting that really

Honestly, I can't even spell my own name correctly - more tea needed

That's funny. I'm preggers at the moment so it took me a moment to work out what the heck you were talking about. Now as a treat to myself where the heck do I find Green and Blacks?

green and blacks definitely

you can get it in big supermarkets (I get mine in Sainsburys)

it makes the most divine choc cakes and icing!

Green and Black's def. Can get it at Sainsbo's Tesco, etc. Also makes lovely hot cocoa - make according to instructions on tin.

Do Cadburys do a bournville cocoa?

Cadbury · 26/02/2006 11:55

they only do one kind - as far as I know.

lunavix · 26/02/2006 12:00

green and blacks, for sure. I use it for all cooking. (well all that has cocoa lol)

Enid · 26/02/2006 12:02

Lakeland do a chocolate essence which is fab - just add a few drops to muffins or cakes to get a rich chocolatey flavour

Blu · 26/02/2006 12:19

I thought G&B was a bit low strength, and have reverted to Sainsburies.

Wills · 26/02/2006 12:24

Ok, I'm going to try different kinds. Given that when I'm not pregnant I don't like chocolate that much I suspect I'm going to be left with a large surplus. The muffins turned out distinctly brown instead of the brown/black you get in shop bought ones.
