Stem Cell Storage - Any Here Tried it?

I was told of a practice call 'stem cell storage' by a GP friend of mine. From what I understand they take and store the umbilical cord at birth and can use it for all kinds of future surgery practice.

Also apparently a number of fellow GP's have already done it. I registered for a pack to be sent (here - www.cells4life.co.uk/request-a-welcome-pack)

Has anyone else done it or have any experience of it? I still don't quite know how it works...

We have our youngest 2 cord blood stored. My dh has to do it himself although the midwife helped.
If you are happy to spend the money it may be a good wee insurance, may also match other family members.
