i have a maclaren major buggy for my 7 year old daughter it is the old type dont no how old it is but got it from nhs and being a disabled pushchair why are these buggies not so nice and padded like the conventional buggies for children ie mines still got like a nylon seat with like a pvc covering like maclaren use to use in the early 80s (strippy deckchair ) it seems disabled buggies are lagging behind the conventional ones does any body else think the same thanks

Marmet, we have that buggy too, but Maclaren have updated the major, and it does look a lot better. However, we chose to have the old style because ds had to have extra seating inserts, and they wouldn't fit the new style. Have a look at the maclaren website, click special needs.

There is a new style Major buggy for sale on Ebay. Its £25 atm, no bidders. I think it has about 3 days left. Search major buggy

My oldest, who is now almost 12, had the old style in1992, so they must be newer than that. I think they were done a couple of years ago, but am not sure. You can get raincovers for them, I have the name of the firm somewhere, they are £30 I think. I don't feel conscious of it at all. I prefer the old one (we tried both). Tbh it bothers me more the amount of people staring at ds2 when we are out, but it has been a godsend for us.

What is is your DDs condition? you could try and find out if there is a charity that will pay for the cosytoes etc. A local Cp support group pay for DS's sunshade and raincover. Another place you could try is John Lewis, they will order the things in and then you have no P&P to pay.

hi
just let you all know that i have managed to get a raincover for me major its from a conventional pushchair but seems to do the job the raincover is quite large. just how i have fitted it being the frames square and not round is on side of the seat .hoods bit high but keeps rain off her does want a good clean tho been stored damp got that damp midew plastic smell should bleach be ok just thought id ask yes the rainhoods being a round clip is the problem pity the majors frame not round frame instead of square will try it today and let all know how we get on i suppose the proper major rainwear has got square clips and not the round looking for a bit of lambs wool now for using as a buggy linner

I went on a day trip with my dd's special school on sunday and someone there had a brand new major buggy and it was lovely. It was like a red tarton type fabric and all padded. Very nice indeed
