Kia Sportage

DH has decided we need a new car. Our old Picasso has been fab but is getting to the stage where niggly things are starting to go wrong, and he thinks we should get rid before before anything major goes wrong.

I would like a similar car in size and wondered if anyone would recommend the Sportage? Thanks.

I used to have one and found it a an ok car. Minor niggles were the noisy fan/poor heating system, the beep when the door was activated (easily disarmed when the fuse was taken out but then the lighter stopped working) plus a faulty fuel pump.
It was a fairly greedy little car and could be sluggish.

I found that it was not sturdy enough to cope during the severe winter three years ago so had to get something else.

The new diesel ones are completely different to the one I had and I think they are quite good.

It would be worthwhile checking out consumer reports in the likes of Which Car to see how the Sportage performed.

Thanks for replying.

I need it to be fairly good in the winter as we live on top of a large hill! Did you have the seven year guarantee? I must admit I like the idea of that, but being thirsty could be an issue...

I think the 2011 models onwards are excellent value; for some reason, I'm suspicious of the foot-operated parking brake!
