Cheapish and robust MP3 player for kids?

Going on a 10 hour flight in a couple of weeks and was thinking of getting dd and ds a cheap cd player each so that they can listen to their story cds when they get bored or sleepy. Someone said MP3s would be better as we wouldnt need to carry the cds with us. As a total technophobe (despite dh being an IT bof) can anyone recommend one which isnt too expensive but tough enough and easy enough to operate for the kids - please?

ipod shuffles are quite robust and groovy...

Is an ipod the same as an MP3 then?

We got DS1 aged 7 one of these for £19.99 and it's great for the price, comes in Red, silver, blue or black - he hasn't managed to break it yet!!

Thanks all - dh has come home and says he has ordered them a nanopod each !?! Guess that means I can stop taxing my tiny brain. May as well be latin to me. Memo to self must keep in touch with the real world!
