LR Freelander v XC60 (v Skoda Superb Estate)?

Which would you buy (or similar)? Have a 9 year old Volvo V70 T5 (owned from new) which I LOVE but we need to move on. I would buy another V70 but both DH & I would like a higher driving position whilst retaining 'load space' (as I've discovered the car industry call it).

I love the look of the Freelander but load space is limited, XC60 a bit streamlined IYSWIM, (XC90 too big). Have mentioned Skoda Superb but it would not give the high driving position (DH will not consider Skoda YetiSad).

Should add we're looking to move to a diesel automatic (from petrol/manual). Suggestions?

I am going to add Mitsubishi Outlander, really really good on diesel, we got from South Coast of Dorset to Belfast on one tank of diesel, roomy, will give you the high driving position. Good boot space.

What about a mercedes? I have a tiddly A160 but can still get all our kit in, my bf has a large mercedes estate and gets two kids, large husband and all their tut in with space to spare.
The driving position is very high, the internal finish is excellent, service is great.
All the good stuff is standard fit, isofix for seats etc
They are in the process of adjusting their range ATM as well, I got 25% off my 160 as the A series is going, the is a big push across all the cars to build volume within dealership groups to have capacity for the new ranges = discounts!

Thanks MaggotM, not sure why but Mercedes just doesn't do it for me. Historically based on them being rear wheel drive....I know that's not the case now......I guess I should have another lookGrin.

Have just check Mercedes and ruled them out on price.........

Love my XC60!

We looked at the Freelander, Evoke and Q5 too. If i hadn't made the decision my DH would probably still be looking.

We fit loads into the boot. DH uses it for work sometimes and we did take it on a 1200 mile journey with his work gear, our 2 DCs (10 & 7) and clothes for a week away (including hiking gear/boots for all of us).

Thanks for all your advice, the deed is done Grin. I rather lost the will to look at/test drive another car or compare mpg, emissions etc. I've bought a Hyundai ix35, ex demonstrator, top spec. Just hope my old car will stagger on for another week or so before I trade it in. It's my first venture away from the 'european' market (mind you it's built in Slovakia) so I'll let you know how I get on.
