Dd is to be bridesmaid at BIL big wedding in January. Next do a lovely cream pair , but unfortunately she is between sizes. She is usually a 9 but in next they are massive on her(her feet only seem to grow about half a size every 4 mnths,so I would really like thm to fit now).
SIL(to be ) has found a wedding shop selling them - Rainbow shoes, starting at £35 - yeeks !!I am on mat leave and we are being quite careful with money so I don't want to pay as much as that for 1 day.Does anyone know where I could buy some , or order on line?. Thanks

CountessDracula · 04/12/2003 13:16

How about Monsoon, they do lovely bridesmaidy type things

babster · 04/12/2003 13:17

We bought dd1's at BHS - there was plenty of choice and they cost around £22 (yeeks indeed when they're only going to get worn once!).

MUM2ELA · 04/12/2003 13:18

If you go to www.confetti.co.uk (its a wedding website) they have a buy and sell area on there.

People are often selling bridesmaid shoes on there.

Enid · 04/12/2003 13:19

we bought dd1's in Monsoon, very pretty pink sequined ones - she loves them. BHS has been recommended by others too.

M2T · 04/12/2003 13:22

We got my Flower girl a pair of shoes in Debenhams! We spotted them quite by chance after we had looked at everything in the Bridal department and didn't see NOWT.... we were leaving when I spotted the kids clothes department and suggested we have a quick look before we leave empty handed.

There they were! A lovely pair of pale cream leather shoes for £16.

M2T · 04/12/2003 13:23

BHS and Monsoon up here don't stock Bridal wear until January/Feb next year! Out of season apparently. Grrrr!

colette · 04/12/2003 13:34

thanks for your replies other 2 mums have got theirs si I am feeling the pressure to get it sorted
We are in Glasgow, I might try and phone bhs because they were really helpful when I was looking at bridal dresses in November and actually went down to the basement for me. But I probably was just lucky. I will try confetti website and debenhams.

Try Dance shops, I got hard soled ballet shoes for my weding at under a tenner.

M2T · 04/12/2003 13:46

Colette it was Debenhams in Glasgow that I got the flowergirls shoes! And that was only 2mths ago.

It was the BHS and Monsoon in Glasgow that didn't really have any Bridal stuff left as it was out of season.

Plus, as its a winter wedding you are probably best to avoid the little Satin numbers.... her feet will be soaking and cold standing around for photos!

Angeliz · 04/12/2003 13:48

i'd say the same as crubchie, i got shoes for my dd's Christening there, creamy satin little ones.

M2T · 04/12/2003 13:53

Angeliz - For Scotland in January though???????

Angeliz · 04/12/2003 14:01

yes point taken M2T.our posts srossed there

Enid · 04/12/2003 14:04

My wedding is in muddy dorset in December and I have cream satin shoes - dd2 has violet velvet ones - but I don't intend to be standing anywhere cold and muddy!!!

katierocket · 04/12/2003 14:06

try here
although still bit expensive - £25

children's salon

marialuisa · 04/12/2003 14:09

Does Glasgow have a jOhn Lewis? DD's bridesmaid kit (for 2 weeks time,ah!) all came from there.

Demented · 04/12/2003 15:50

Yes, in Buchanan Galleries.

M2T · 04/12/2003 15:53

Marialuisa - Again I tried John Lewis in Glasgow 2 mths ago and they also told me it was out of season. How silly is that!?? Plenty people have winter weddings now!

colette · 04/12/2003 17:20

I phoned bhs and they said the wedding stuff will be back in between xmas and new year as the wedding is 31st jan so I am hanging until then. MT2 I will try debenhams as well.We should get away with satin ones as it is all indoors (inside a hotel)The irony is when we got married 2yrs ago at xmas dd had black patent shoes which we got loads of wear out of after and we arranged the whole thing in 7 weeks . I would have got so stressed about a big do and we couldn't afford it.
I'll look forward to it more once I have got my own outfit - anyone seen a glam and flattering red dress - not too expensive?. Thanks for all your replies and links

We got some from John Lewis - don't know if they are officially bridesmaids shoes they're cream silk and like hard ballet shoes with a hard sole - about a tenner if I recall.

tamum · 05/12/2003 10:47

If it's all indoors she could probably just wear ballet shoes, there are some examples here . They wouldn't last long outside, but they would look nice inside and have the advantage of being cheap!

colette · 05/12/2003 18:36

thanks for the link tamum - they are a bargain .Roberta I couldn't get thro to JL ,will try again tomorrow. Debenhams have some shoes but not in her size - they are getting a full stock in mid Jan. I also thought of trying the smaller size from next just in case- they are out of her size as well but the bonus of going on their website was that their childrens/teenage shoes go up to a size 6 .I have seen great shoes for myself fpr about £15-£19. Another incentive to lose weight and get into age 16 clothes!
