Lots of people will say a potty is a potty and go to asda and get a cheaply. However I found the baby bjorn potty seat brilliant for my second DS. It was high at the front so no spraying out. Then the dish bit lifted out to empty so you didn't have to tip a whole potty ups HTH!

Just doing my 2.9 ds now and also vote for the baby bjorn one. I couldn't even get him to sit on the pourty I stupidly bought whereas this one he sat on and did a wee immediately! Day 4 and its going ok - good luck!

Get a couple cheap ones and wait until he's interested. Ds hated his BabyBjorn style seat but once trying happily used a potty chair and then cheap 99p potties once he got the idea. Not a fan of the soft seat with handles, either, but now likes the small seat fitted inside the wooden toilet seat lid.

Dn meanwhile liked the inserts/ small seats and started weeing standing up very early, but ds is still too short!

Another vote for the baby bjorn potty it's definitely worth the money, we bought a cheaper, smaller one first but it was too difficult for DS to get his positioning right.

sounds like a lot of trial and error! Thanks for all your help and good luck to everyone else potty training!

Also think boys tend to be ready later so might be an idea to leave it until he is a little older.

We had a disaster on day 1 with pants and trousers but when we just left them off he got the hang of it really quickly
