HELP failed MOT!!!

Pleeease help me! My stupid fucking car has just failed on emissions for 3rd year in a row.

1st time, 2 months after I got it, nothing got it past until we did an engine transplant. Worked. 2nd time, failed again much to my horror, blasted it up motorway in 2nd gear and passed. Now, it has failed again!! They've said the 1st step is to change exhaust as it's blowing, but I'm not convinced this will work as it didn't the 1st time.

I'm honestly at my wits end I have no money for a new car, a budget of about £300 for repairs on this and am dependant on my car, public transport doesn't allow me to drop my ds off at nursery and then get t work on time. I don't even know how Im going to find the time to sort this out as I'm working.

Hi

Have you blasted it in first gear again with the revs high? You should see a shit load of black smoke come out of it.

My DH does this with his car (4x4) before every MOT, which I realise is a bit late now but might still help. He also does it with mine as it's an old one and I beleive is general practice.

Did it fail on anything else or just this? If so, you might not even have to fork out for any repairs.

Hope that helps

This is what I did last year and it worked didn't have to pay a penny. I did do it again this year :S The thing is, I work in a college and they did an emissions check on friday for me, the lambda test was broken but all other emissions were fine so he said lambda won't be a problem. Apparently it is!

No other failures, few brake things and needed oil were advisories. I put a full bottle of oil in yesterday but it was showing empty today. But they put some in and was showing after.... Not sure if this could have damaged anything?!

My next step is getting my boyfriend to gamble £300 and hoping for the best!

If lambda sensor is not working then the engine ecu may weel run too rich (according to DH!)
