Elephant.com - has anyone used this company?
willow2 · 02/12/2003 13:40
Just doing the yearly car insurance shuffle - and Elephant.Com are the best quote by about £200; on seemingly a like for like policy. Has anyone any experience of using this company? Seems almost too good to be true!
kayleigh · 02/12/2003 13:48
I haven't heard of elephant.com, but about a year ago changed to e-sure from direct line and got a very good deal.
Freddiecat · 02/12/2003 17:16
Elephant are the online company of Admiral Insurance (I think).
misdee · 02/12/2003 18:22
was just looking at them,. gave me the best quote so far, but u have to pay in one go. bah bah. cant afford that.
SusannaLH · 02/12/2003 18:51
I've been with them for 18 months now and have no problems - no need to call them, though as accident free (fingers crossed)
scoobysnax · 02/12/2003 19:03
shocking company, would not use them again - errors in their quoting database and terrible customer service - be warned!
They quoted low to me, took payment, then said they had quoted too low and took more money from my card without my authorisation!!!!
willow2 · 04/12/2003 14:28
Thanks everyone - mmm, not sure what to do now! Anyone else got any info?
Snips · 04/12/2003 14:31
We have our car insurance through them, Was very competitive, No probelms so far but have not had to claim.
salt · 04/12/2003 14:31
Freddiecat is right. Admiral are fairly cheap on the whole anyway but Elephant always give you a slightly better deal as less costs involved.
I've not used Elephant but Admiral are very good and I've made a claim through them too... would definitely recommend Admiral so how bad can Elephant be?!?!

good to see that the majority are in favour as we swapped from admiral to elephant last week. saved £250 - bizarre that they are the same company!
Hayls · 04/12/2003 14:52
Hmmm, we had probs with Admiral and decided never to use them again. Direct Line are really cheap and have and good service for the past couple of years but haven't had to claim fingers crossed)The main one I've heard to avoid (several horror stories) is Tesco insurance
salt · 04/12/2003 15:05
Wow Hayls really? I love Admiral. Direct Line always give me quotes through the roof and one year wouldn't offer me anything!
teabag · 04/12/2003 21:24
Willow2 - We have used Elephant for the last two years and been very happy. My dh dented the bakcdoor on our car and we claimed through the insurance. Elephant were excellent. The garage did an excellent and we just paid the excess. Would recommend them.
princesspeahead · 04/12/2003 21:50
our other car is tesco - they have gbeen fine (not that we have tried to claim on them or anything) - and v cheap...
