As the title says, anyone know of great deals?

I have wifi at home, s prbably dont need 3g, but am unsure of other differences.

Whats wrong with the cheapest one?

I bought the cheapest one £89 and a cover for £20 about 3 months ago it's brilliant I don't see the need for the more expensive ones when you have wi fi and i don't need a touch screen. My mum 88 just bought the same as me she loves it too especially as she can enlarge the print and its not heavy for her to hold (has bad arthritis in her hands). She loves hers too.

Please don't talk about Kindles, mine has frozen and I feel like i have lost my best friend :(.

My DCs all have the basic £89 one and I have been using one of them all day due to the above issue. It is lovely and small and light compared to my one with a keyboard (which is still pretty small and light!). I have 3G on mine and do use it a fair amount but could easily survive without.

Buy one, best thing ever!

Hallo
We have moved this to our e-reader topic - thought you might get better help here.

Happy reading OP

Thanks Olivia, that's a good idea.

Both me and DH have the £89 one (no keyboard) and without 3G and no issues whatsoever. It's so light and a joy to use. You can buy books direct from it on wifi, or from your pc/phone and they download very quickly, like instantaneously!

My DHs had a problem some 3 months later and it was replaced with no quibbles or hassle. In fact, I phoned their helpline and they sent a new one out that day which arrived the next day. No charge, nowt. I've heard excellent things about their customer service and my experience backs this up.

I do miss actual books - browsing and looking at the covers etc, but the kindle is so easy to use, esp in bed and will be a godsend come holiday time - no excess luggage fees for carrying 3 bonkbusters!

I never use the keyboard on mine, but do like the 3G. Sometimes I finish a book when commuting, and at the end it suggests stuff...so I can get on and buy it there and then. Ditto on Holiday. If you are more restrained/patient than me, wifi is sufficient though.....

DoggedDetermination · 07/05/2012 22:37

Mmmm am going on holiday in a couple of weeks , so would pre load it.

What about lbrary books, is they supported?

Hi Dogged, yes any kindle book that you buy on Amazon can be downloaded to your kindle app on your phone, so you can read even if you haven't got your kindle with you. Then the next time you switch your kindle's wifi on, you can sync the book to your last read point. It is fantastic.

I have the basic kindle and I love it. I love that it is smaller and lighter than the keyboard model. I use my PC to browse Amazon and buy books, because the onscreen keyboard on the kindle is slow to use. You can also use the kindle's USB cable to plug into your computer to load in any books you source from places other than Amazon. Install Calibre on your computer to convert any ebooks to kindle format.

My sister is PC illiterate and doesn't have wifi, so she has the 3G kindle keyboard and uses that to buy books, and she loves it too.

Thank you!

Nothing wrong with the basic one Smile. I've got the kindle3 (with the keyboard) wifi version but am a bit Envy over my Mum's new £89 one.
